UK energy storage developer Anesco has completed work on a 20MW BESS near Manchester, taking the company’s storage portfolio to 147MW.
The facility (pictured), which comprises 16 1.25MW/1.25MWh lithium-ion battery energy storage systems, was built on a brownfield site in Lascar.
The project has been funded, designed and installed by Anesco but investment details were not disclosed.
Steve Shine, Anesco executive chairman, said: “Our full-service capabilities and unique understanding for how to derive commercial value from renewable assets is something that continues to find favour with investors and customers.”
Earlier this year, Anesco confirmed it would partner the investment arm of multinational Shell in a UK 1.25MW lithium-ion BESS on the Norfolk coast.
Anesco said last year it was on track to “quadruple its operational battery portfolio” in the UK by 2020.
