Motive power and standby battery product firm Philadelphia Scientific has launched a new and improved version of its lead-acid battery watering monitors.
With brighter LEDs the new Blinky gadgets also feature an installation “forgiveness zone” to reduce the potential for damaging monitors during installation.
The improvements were designed to promote better battery watering practices, said Harold Vanasse, Philadelphia Scientific’s vice president of sales and marketing.
He said: “The brighter LED lights are easier to see, and the monitors, including the LED housing, are more robust, making them less resistant to breakage.
The ‘forgiveness zone’ is a specific voltage range in which the LED won’t come on, but in which the fuse won’t blow when the monitor is connected incorrectly.
The safety fuse will blow when the voltage exceeds the forgiveness zone range, but this new feature will reduce the chances of blowing a fuse and the need to replace the monitor.
The Blinky is ideal for batteries that do not leave the truck or for batteries that are charged on multi-level racks.
