An explosion at a China recycling plant owned by lithium-ion battery giant Contemporary Amperex Technology (CATL) killed one person and injured 19 more on 7 January.
The 120,000 tonne capacity plant in the Hunan Province is run by Brunp Recycling Technology, a unit of Guangdong Brunp Recycling Technology, which in turn is a subsidiary of CATL.
Brunp said in a statement on WeChat the explosion was caused by waste aluminum foil igniting in the waste disposal unit.
