Germany-based high-tech manufacturer Manz has received multiple orders from European and Asian companies for lithium-ion battery machinery this month that are worth $47m (€40m) in total.
The orders comprise of lithium-ion batteries production line solutions for electronic devices. Details of the deals remain undisclosed.
“The potential in lithium-ion battery production is far from exhausted,” said the company’s CEO and founder Dieter Manz. “Without the acquisition of the former Arcotronics, we would never have succeeded in opening the market for consumer electronics so quickly and, above all, so successfully.”
The Reutlingen-headquartered company acquired Italian winding and laminating machine supplier Arcotronics in May last year. The firm is now trading under the name Manz Italy.
Manz secured its largest deal to date for lithium-ion battery machinery in June 2014, budgeted in the “lower double-digit million Euro range”.
The equipment supplier foresees a bright future for lithium-ion batteries. “Future markets such as e-mobility and residential storage will further foster market dynamics in addition to the already large industry segment of batteries for consumer electronics. I’m convinced that these orders are only the beginning,” Manz added.
The majority of the recent orders are set for delivery in the first half of 2015.
Manz will have a booth (no. 101) at AABC Europe later this month and will be present in the German Pavilion (hall 2F) at Battery Japan in February.
