German-based high-tech manufacturer Manz received its largest single order of li-ion battery machinery comprising a fully integrated production line in the “lower double-digit million Euro range”, revealed the company.
Manz’s li-ion battery technology will be integrated in consumer electronics such as notebooks and smartphones. “Like most of the orders in this segment today, the products are likely to be delivered to Asia”, said Axel Bartmann, head of corporate communications at Manz to BEST.
“This order means for us entering into the rapidly growing li-ion battery sector for consumer electronics. Thereby we can quickly expand the battery business segment as planned and are therefore not impacted by the recent sluggish development in the e-mobility sector”, stated Dieter Manz, CEO and founder of Manz.
The driving factor of the growing consumer electronics market is the increasing importance of battery life especially in premium segment devices, said Manz and claimed: “The potential for follow-up orders is huge and will strengthen our leading position as an equipment and technology provider for the production of li-ion batteries.”
According to the battery supplier, the order will primarily contribute to revenues and earnings in the second half of 2014.
