BlueSky Energy is incorporating ViZn Energy Systems’ Z20 zinc redox flow batteries in a microgrid project in Austria.
The microgrid project is part of a community infrastructure to capitalise on the energy from solar panels in an Austrian village and reduce costs for energy customers. The project is part of a European economic renewal project to reduce energy waste, in this case by using storage.
Hansjörg Weisskopf, founder and President of BlueSky said: “Our primary objective was to find a battery that provided the best economic returns over a 20 year life. The ViZn battery provided that, but also provides a battery with unparalleled safety which is a big selling point for our customers.”
The ViZn zinc redox flow battery uses low-cost chemistry, materials and manufacturing process to make a cost-effective battery for use with renewable energy sources in a microgrid system.
