South Korea-based LG Chem Ltd has formally launched its residential battery systems line into the North American market.
LG said the debut lithium-ion range, which comprises AC- and DC-coupled solutions with capacities up to 9.8kWh, follows UL certification and marks the company’s “initial foray” into the North American residential market.
Two voltage options are available paired with compatible inverters. They include a low-voltage 48V available in capacities of 3.3kWh, 6.5kWh and 9.8kWh. The high-voltage 400V option is available in capacities of 7kWh and 9.8kWh.
LG said its 400V RESU10H (9.8kWh) product “is compatible with SolarEdge’s StorEdge, which is a DC-coupled storage solution based on a single inverter for both PV and storage”. “Additional inverter compatibility options will become available later in 2017, to provide homeowners with a range of pre-tested solutions,” the company said.
US-based residential energy systems provider Sunrun, which announced a partnership with LG last year, will supply LG’s RESU systems.
LG did not reveal prices for the range.
