Chloride Technical & Trading has delivered an Atelier Roche punching system to an unnamed battery maker in China, senior project engineer Mike Dunn (pictured) told BBB.
Its a first for the company and an acceptance from Chinese lead acid manufacturers that punched grid is the way forward if you want to make excellent VRLA batteries, he said.
And as BEST said back in spring 2016, if you are not convinced about the value of punching, there’s a detailed review on the benefits by Robert Gell of Gelco services— a BEST subscriber—www.gelcoservices.com.au/docs/Grid_Construction_Comparisons.pdf.
And don’t forget the esteemed words of Pat Mosely, Ian Dyson, David Rand et al in that wonderful read: The encyclopaedia of electrochemical power sources, page 661: “The high press of the punched grid and its excellent control strip thickness makes it ideal for making VRLA batteries”.
