The Philippines’ National Power Corporation (Napocor)has awarded local firm Thermopower Inc. a P95.8m ($2.31m) contract to supply 14 diesel gensets to beef up power supply in remote off-grid areas.
In a statement, Napocor said Thermopower submitted the lowest price for the contract, besting other firms like Powermax and Hansei. Thermopower will provide 14 gensets with a capacity of 600kW apiece to nine areas being serviced by the Small Power Utilities Group (SPUG), the electrification arm of Napocor.
According to Napocor, it will deploy three gensets each to the Basco diesel power plant (DPP) in Batanes and to Power Barge (PB) 116 in Siquijor, while two gensets will be delivered to PB 113 in Lapiz Port, also in Siquijor.
One genset each will be deployed to the Casiguran DPP in Aurora, Quezon; Lubang DPP in Occidental Mindoro; PB 109 in Tablas Island; PB 111 in Sultan Kudarat; Siasi DPP in Sulu; and Sitangkai DPP in Tawi Tawi.
Thermopower is an authorized agent of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) Engine System Philippines.
