Ricardo gives virtual insight on design at Battery Show

UK-based Ricardo has given delegates to the Battery Show Europe a glimpse of how virtual reality can help to reduce development costs and increase speed to market of hybrid vehicles.

The engineering and environmental consultancy was in Stuttgart to demonstrate how its ‘Future Vehicle Architecture (FUVA) can bring together remote design teams for “co-simulation” of projects.

Romeo Power finds battery packs partner in BorgWarner

US-based automotive industry components and parts supplier BorgWarner is to enter the batteries market under a joint venture with California energy storage start-up Romeo Power.

BorgWarner will be the majority partner in the 60-40 joint venture— also taking a 20% equity stake in Romeo and two seats on that company’s board.

US auto battery pack firm to open European hub

US-based advanced automotive battery pack ‘remanufacturer’ Spiers New Technologies (SNT) is opening a European ‘hub’ in the Netherlands.

SNT said it will use the site at Ede to service automotive OEMs in Europe’s electric vehicle (EV) market.

China chemicals player seeks CNY1.7bn for EV battery projects

Chinese firm Do-Fluoride Chemicals Co., Ltd plans to raise around CNY1.7 billion ($258 million) to produce materials for automotive lithium batteries and battery pack manufacturing.

The company will raise the capital through a private placement, according to brokerage firm Everbright Securities Company Limited, a subsidiary of the country’s Everbright Group, which is handling the placement.
