Bolivia and India are working on plans to set up a lithium supply chain between the countries to serve joint venture battery production plants.

Lithium carbonate originating in Bolivia would be delivered to the battery/cell manufacturing facilities in India, according to an agreement signed by Indian president Ram Nath Kovind (pictured left) during a state visit to Bolivia.

Under the terms of the deal, both sides “agreed to facilitate mechanisms for the commercialisation of lithium carbonate and potassium chloride produced in Bolivia by the state-owned exploration and refining firm Yacimientos de Litio Bolivianos Corporación (YLB).”

AVZ hails 'significant' lithium find in quest to fuel China EV batteries

Mon, 02/25/2019 - 00:00 -- John Shepherd

Australia-listed mining firm AVZ Minerals has announced a “potentially massive” new lithium deposit discovery in the Democratic Republic of Congo to shore up moves to supply electric vehicle battery makers in China.

MD Nigel Ferguson said the discovery confirms Carriere de l’Este “as a significant lithium deposit to potentially exceed” AVZ’s nearby Roche Dure deposit in the Manono project— 500 kilometres north of Lubumbashi in the south of the country.

AVZ said initial drilling at Carriere de l’Este “confirms widespread, high-grade spodumene lithium mineralisation over thick intersections”.
