Contract awarded for phase 4 of Dubai solar storage plant

Dubai's state energy utility has awarded a $3.9 billion contract to build the 700-megawatt fourth phase of a solar power plant with molten salt energy storage.

The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) gave the contract for the fourth phase of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park to a consortium comprising Shanghai Electric and Saudi Arabia's ACWA Power.

South Australia inks deal for more solar, storage

South Australia has signed a deal to build a 150MW solar thermal power plant in the state with eight hours of molten salt energy storage.

The AUD650 million ($510m) Aurora Solar Energy Project, to be built and operated near the town of Port Augusta by US-based utility SolarReserve, is designed to supply all of the state government’s power needs, premier Jay Weatherill said.
