Merger of flow battery firms sees Avalon move its CEO into RedT’s top seat

UK-based vanadium redox flow battery firm RedT will integrate the chief executive officer of US energy storage firm Avalon Battery Corporation on the successful completion of a merger between the two firms.

Larry Zulch will become the new chief executive of RedT subject to finalisation of the merger as Jeff Kenna and Scott McGregor prepare to leave the company on 31 December.

Consortium gets nod to install VRFB as part of Li-ion hybrid system

Planning permission has been granted for the development of a 2MW/5MWh vanadium redox flow battery at a substation in Oxford, UK.

The system by RedT is part of the Energy Superhub Oxford project led by led by Pivot Power with a consortium of Habitat Energy, Kensa, Oxford City Council, the University of Oxford and UK-based firm.

Batteries 'can help UK achieve net-zero emissions by 2050'

Ramping up the development and use of battery technologies can help the UK achieve “net-zero” emissions by 2050, according to a new report.

Government advisory body the Committee on Climate Change (CCC) said a net-zero greenhouse gases target for 2050 “is achievable with known technologies, alongside improvements in people’s lives”.

University enlists hybrid storage system to combat emissions

UK-based energy storage company redT has put a 1 megawatt-hour energy storage system (ESS) into operation at Monash University, in Melbourne, Australia.

The company said the vanadium flow/lithium-ion hybrid ESS is the first of its type and believed to be the largest behind the meter commercial and industrial system to be installed in Australia. It is comprised of 12 vanadium flow tank units (giving 900kWh of storage) and a 120kWh lithium-ion battery.

UK’s redT to supply German grid-scale storage

UK-based energy storage firm redT has signed a deal to supply more than 700 megawatt-hours (MWh) of grid-scale systems to support the German grid.

The company said it will initially deliver two 40MWh energy storage projects, using its ‘Gen 3’ vanadium redox flow technology, with plans to roll out a further 690MWh of projects in the future.

redT energy storage wins Europe, Asia contracts

UK-based energy storage firm redT said it has signed “initial” deals to supply 12 energy storage units using vanadium redox flow technology to firms in Europe and Southeast Asia.

This company declined to give details of the contracts, but said the deals pave the way for redT to potentially supply a total of more than 300 energy storage units in the regions.

Jabil to manufacture REDT's flow batteries

US based Jabil Circuit and Camco Clean Energy's subsidiary REDT have signed a contract that enables Jabil to manufacture REDT's vanadium redox flow battery.

The agreement allows Jabil to produce the battery on behalf of REDT, which faciliates the battery company to manufacture at large scale and accelerate its market deployment.
