UK firm Moixa is once again testing the benefits of batteries for homeowners and utilities in making use of renewable energy.

The residential energy storage firm, along with utility Northern Powergrid (NP) and community renewable energy group Energise Barnsley teamed up to demonstrate how batteries can utilise solar energy.

ESS uses hybrid technology to stabilise grid

Testing on a hybrid sodium-ion and ultracapacitor energy storage system has begun in the US to investigate if it can be used to stabilise a grid using renewable energy.

Duke Energy started testing the first-of-its-kind battery technology at its Rankin Substation in Gaston County, North Carolina last month in a bid to demonstrate its ability to cope with multiple service needs.

800 kW lithium-ion system to power aboriginal community

Australia’s vast untapped solar energy resources are set to be utilised in a diesel-PV-lithium-ion battery hybrid project to bring power to an Aboriginal community.

Energy storage solutions manufacturer QINOUS will supply a 800 kW / 1,987 kWh lithium-ion battery system to store excess solar energy and provide grid-forming functions of the diesel generators after winning an international tender.
