Italian lead-acid battery firms suspend production amid Covid-19 pandemic

Italian battery firms are suspending production as the country’s government issued an order for all non-essential business to close in a bid to contain the coronavirus pandemic.

The country’s prime minister Giuseppe Conte said on Saturday, 21 March that all Italian businesses must close until April 3, with the exception of those essential to maintaining the country's supply chain.

Among the battery and equipment manufacturers are: Sovema, La Pneumetica and OMI.

Sovema hits back at Chinese counterfeiters

Sovema, the Italian owned global supplier of lead-acid battery machine making equipment has announced it is going to pursue IP counterfeiters in China and deal with them, through the courts and other channels.

The company is setting up a special task force to identify fake equipment being produced in China and stop both its manufacture and use.

SoLith to supply Li-ion kit for Alevo’s giga-factory

Sovema owned SoLith’s will supply its advanced lithium-ion battery formation, test and aging systems to newcomer Alevo's 16-Giga hour factory.

Alevo plans to manufacturer its Gridbank battery energy storage systems in the North Carolina plant.

Sovema to launch improved enveloping machine

Italian battery manufacturing machinery firm Sovema is to launch an updated enveloper machine for enveloping lead-acid battery plates in mid-2014.

After two to three years of testing and trials in various locations around the world, in the next quarter Sovema will launch an improved version of its enveloping machine, General Manager Massimiliano Ianniello told BEST.
