Moixa wins new battery project funding

UK-based residential energy storage firm Moixa has been awarded GBP267,750 ($350,771) in government ‘entrepreneurial funding’ to expand its ‘GridShare’ cloud-based virtual power plant.

Moixa said the funds from the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy’s Energy Entrepreneur Fund would be used to develop GridShare, “which aggregates batteries to reduce costs and enable more renewable generation”.

The world’s largest Virtual Power Plant gone live in Australia

Australian energy retailer AGL Energy has announced the world’s largest residential Virtual Power Plant (VPP) has gone live after a six-month initial construction phase.

AGL will complete the installation of 1,000 Sunverge Energy’s (a US energy storage systems provider) lithium-ion batteries across Adelaide, Australia by the end of 2018, which would reach 5MW of storage.
