Sungrow has announced the successful grid connection of the first 400MWh of ENGIE’s 200MW/800MWh BESS project in Vilvoorde, Belgium.
This marks a major milestone for mainland Europe’s largest battery storage installation, which uses 320 of Sungrow’s advanced PowerTitan liquid-cooled units.
The second phase of the BESS project is expected to be connected by the end of 2025. Once complete, the system will support grid stability and deliver clean energy to up to 96,000 Belgian households.

Sungrow’s PowerTitan units offer compact, liquid-cooled technology for efficient deployment and reliable performance. The Vilvoorde installation absorbs surplus energy during peak production and releases it when demand is high, helping balance the grid and reduce congestion.
