Luxemburg-headquartered lead battery supplier Accumalux Group has acquired an injection moulding company in Togliatti, Russia and formed Accumalux Russia.
The new division is based in the Samara region, an automotive hub of Russia with a network of automotive producing facilities of OEMs and suppliers.
Despite a low battery production in Russia, the local production of battery boxes and lids has increased in recent years, according to the Accumalux Group. The company expects a growing battery market due to the growing Russian automotive industry and aims to serve the Russian market with its expansion in the region.
The battery supplier is currently reviewing the production range and quality of the acquired production site in order to bring it to Accumalux Group standards. The company will then start marketing the products to other battery manufacturers.
The Accumalux Group produces plastic boxes, lids and accessories for automotive batteries, motive power cells, stand-by batteries as well as other parts for the automotive industry. At this year’s Labat conference in Bulgaria, the firm launched a range of stand-by battery containers and lids that are designed to reduce battery production time by eliminating the gluing process.
