US federal legislation and agency activities that impact the advanced battery industry are under discussion by the National Alliance for Advanced Technology Batteries (NAATBatt) on Friday May 10th in Washington.
The group will meet to discuss the potential impact of policies and government moves including: The Storage Technology for Renewable and Green Energy Act, which is proposing a series of tax credits for storage applications; a proposal from the Obama administration for US$200 million for grid modernisation; how grants and subsidies received since 2009 have been spent; what new sources of funding can be secured; and, The Energy Security Trust Fund.
The committee will review and agree upon course of action for these issues impacting advanced batteries in 2013 – 2014.
NAATBatt member firms will be joined by other stakeholders including representatives from the Electricity Storage Association, the Electric Drive Transportation Association, New York Battery & Energy Storage Technology, and the California Energy Storage Alliance.
