AFRY has been appointed as the lender’s technical advisor (LTA) for a hybrid solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) project by Terra Solar Philippines.
The firm is backed by MGreen and a group of six banks to develop and construct the flagship project, which spans six municipalities across the Nueva Ecija and Bulacan provinces.
The project is expected to have a total capacity of 3,500MWp of solar power with a 4,500MWh BESS.
AFRY has conducted the initial technical due diligence of the solar and BESS project and will monitor the construction through to completion, which will be between 2026 and 2027.
After construction, the firm is due to engage in a role as operational phase support through to the beginning of operations and maintenance and conduct an annual budget review.
The project is connected to the grid through a 13km 500kV transmission line.
Petteri Harkki, regional director for Asia, AFRY, said, “The Terra Solar initiative represents a significant step forward in supporting the Philippines’ energy roadmap — enhancing energy security, building long-term resilience, and enabling a low carbon future. We are excited to contribute our expertise as LTA to a greener future and be part of a project that will deliver lasting environmental and economic benefits.”
