UK rental power provider Aggreko has opened two new services in Africa: one in the South African city of Cape Town and another in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi.
The Nairobi facility, located at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, is the sixth service centre in Aggreko’s Southern and East African network and is the first operation to be based in East Africa. Aggreko’s new facility in Cape Town, situated in the Montague Industrial Park in Milnerton, is its fourth service centre in South Africa and will provide temporary power and temperature control services to the local shipping and oil and gas industries as well as Cape Town’s central business district.
Meanwhile, the Glasgow, Scotland-based company has signed a US$80 million deal for an emergency power solution in the Domincan Republic. Aggreko will supply 100 MW of gas powered generation over a two-year period to Edenorte, the state-owned power distribution company of northern Dominican Republic.
Finally, Aggreko has opened a new manufacturing facility in the Scottish town of Dumbarton with the aim of boosting its global fleet capacity to 9 GW by the end of 2012. The £20 million, 16-acre facility will eventually house 400 workers. All of the company’s manufacturing capacity will be consolidated at Lomondgate by the end of June, when work is completed on the £50m contract to supply electricity for this summer’s Olympic Games in London.
