UK battery pack manufacturer Alexander Battery Technologies has strengthened its engineering and project management team with the appointment of five engineers and a project manager.
The company has recruited Mark Burton as technical manager, Andrew Stevenson as senior test engineer, Alastair Pollitt as electronics test engineer, Chris Muteham as senior project manager, Alexander Johnson as senior mechanical design engineer and Sameed Rashid as AI engineering apprentice.
Burton will lead the company’s engineering operations, overseeing electronics, firmware, mechanical design and testing teams involved in the development and validation of new battery systems. He will also work with production engineering teams to support the transition of products from development into manufacturing.
Stevenson joins the testing division with more than 15 years’ experience in electronics testing and manufacturing, including previous roles at Cicor Group and TT Electronics. He also spent more than a decade at Tridonic, where he developed and commissioned automated manufacturing test systems.
Pollitt joins the test engineering team with experience in electronics development, prototyping and software engineering, alongside doctoral research at Newcastle University focused on modelling and verification of complex digital systems.
Muteham has been appointed senior project manager and will support the delivery of engineering programmes as they progress towards production.
Johnson joins as senior mechanical design engineer, bringing experience in battery system development from a previous role at Saft. He previously completed a dual engineering apprenticeship with Rolls-Royce and Hyperdrive Innovation and will support battery pack design and mechanical integration activities.
The company has also appointed Rashid as an AI engineering apprentice. Working with engineering and production teams, he will support the development of tools to analyse production and testing data.
Mark Burton, technical manager at Alexander Battery Technologies, said: “Expanding the engineering team gives us the depth of expertise needed across development, testing and mechanical design. As the business grows it’s important that we continue strengthening those areas while also investing in the next generation of engineers.”
The expanded team will support both in-house battery system development and battery packs manufactured for OEM customers across sectors including UAVs, industrial power tools, robotics and defence.
Sameed Rashid said: “Joining the company as an AI engineering apprentice gives me the opportunity to learn from experienced engineers while developing practical skills. Exploring how AI can be applied within engineering and manufacturing is particularly interesting.”
Mark Rutherford, CEO of Alexander Battery Technologies, added: “These appointments strengthen the depth of engineering and project expertise within the business as we continue to develop advanced battery technologies for our customers. Bringing in experienced engineers alongside developing new talent through apprenticeships is an important part of how we grow the company and maintain the technical capability needed to support a wide range of applications.”
