Amprius Technologies has entered a U.S. manufacturing partnership with Nanotech Energy, securing a domestic supply chain for its high‑performance silicon‑anode battery cells.
The move supports defence and aerospace customers that require compliant, American‑made energy storage, including L3Harris which relies on advanced energy solutions across multiple defence domains..
The agreement aligns with updated National Defense Authorization Act rules and enables Amprius to scale production while maintaining strict sourcing standards. The company’s CEO Tom Stepien said, “Establishing a U.S. manufacturing partner is essential to meeting the evolving requirements of our defence customers,” highlighting Nanotech’s technical strength and manufacturing capability.
Nanotech CEO Curt Collar noted that the company was built to bolster the domestic battery sector, adding that the partnership is rooted in “deep technical capabilities and high trust.”
The two companies have recently advanced the design and production of the Amprius SA128 cell, a 21700 cylindrical format delivering 6.8Ah and 320Wh/kg.
With U.S.-based contract manufacturing now added to its footprint, Amprius expands its global capacity beyond 2.0GWh, reinforcing its manufacturing‑light model across the U.S. and Asia.
This move positions the company to meet rising demand across commercial, industrial and defence markets while strengthening the American battery supply chain.
California-based Amprius Technologies, Inc. produces lithium-ion battery technology, delivering high-energy and high-power silicon anode batteries with up to twice the energy density, range, and flight time of conventional graphite-based cells.
Nanotech Energy, Inc. is a U.S.-based energy storage company focused on the development and domestic production of high-performance lithium-ion battery cells.
