Anthro Energy has named Hyungrak Kim as its new Executive Vice President of Manufacturing, bringing more than 25 years of expertise in advanced battery materials, electrolyte innovation, and large‑scale production.
His background includes senior roles at Solid Power and Dongwha Electrolyte, where he helped shape major developments in next‑generation battery technologies.
In his new position, Kim will oversee production strategy and scale‑up for Anthro Energy’s advanced polymer electrolyte platform and its high‑performance lithium‑ion cells. These activities span the company’s facilities in Alameda, California, and Louisville, Kentucky.
The appointment aligns with Anthro Energy’s wider push to expand domestic manufacturing capacity as demand rises for safer, more robust batteries across defence, robotics, embodied AI, wearables, and cutting‑edge electronics.
Before joining Anthro Energy, Kim served as EVP of Electrolyte Technologies at Solid Power, contributing to progress in sulfide solid electrolyte development and leading pilot‑scale engineering programmes. Earlier in his career, he directed manufacturing operations at Dongwha Electrolyte, a major global supplier of lithium‑ion battery materials.
Kim is recognised as a leading voice on topics such as scaling next‑generation materials, manufacturing challenges in advanced electrolytes, and the importance of compatibility in commercialisation. He also speaks extensively on domestic supply chain resilience and the future of safer, mechanically durable batteries for robotics and wearables, defence systems, and embodied AI.
His arrival signals Anthro Energy’s intent to accelerate commercial readiness while strengthening the U.S. battery manufacturing ecosystem.
