Anton Paar has expanded its extrusion portfolio with the launch of the Brabender TwinLab B-TSE-S 30/40, a pilot-scale twin-screw extruder designed to bridge the gap between laboratory development and larger-scale production.
The new system offers throughput of up to 100kg/h and is intended to enable users to validate process parameters and produce commercially relevant quantities while maintaining detailed process monitoring.
According to the Austrian manufacturer, the machine is the most compact extruder in its class and features an integrated drive intended to reduce its footprint in pilot-scale environments. The co-rotating twin screws are powered by a 39kW drive, operate at speeds of up to 1,200rpm and deliver 150Nm of torque per screw under process conditions of up to 450°C and 300bar.
André Kayser, product manager at Anton Paar, said: “From small-batch production to process transfer, the expectation remains the same: data must be trustworthy. Building on Anton Paar’s expertise in lab-scale extrusion, TwinLab B-TSE-S 30/40 translates this measurement mindset to pilot scale, combining transparent process data with higher throughput.”
The company said the machine incorporates a clamshell barrel that can be opened at the touch of a button, providing access for cleaning, inspection and screw changes without requiring complete disassembly. Detachable liner inserts are designed to simplify changes in liner materials or hardness and reduce cross-contamination between production runs.
Anton Paar: software-based configuration
An integrated engineering interface allows software-based configuration of digital and analogue inputs and outputs, enabling users to add or reconfigure sensors, feeders, actuators and downstream equipment without hardware modifications.
The system is also equipped with Anton Paar’s MetaBridge software, which records and visualises process parameters including torque, temperature, pressure, screw speed and throughput to support process comparisons, reporting and data export.
Anton Paar said the Brabender TwinLab B-TSE-S 30/40 has been developed to support process development, small-batch production and transfer to larger-scale operations through a combination of compact design, process accessibility and comprehensive data capture.
