Temporary power provider APR Energy has signed a contract with the Electric Authority of Cyprus (EAC) for the supply of temporary power to the island.
The 120 MW diesel-powered solution was contracted by EAC as a peak season application to help fulfill energy needs for the summer. The APR facility will be located at the Moni Power Station, approximately 20 kilometers east of Limassol, and will interconnect directly with the local electrical grid.
Historically, the Moni Power Station has represented over 10 per cent of EAC’s total installed capacity. APR Energy’s contract with EAC provides fast-track installation, operation and maintenance of its temporary power solution.
APR Energy has also signed a 100 MW contract in Uruguay to provide temporary power. The 100 MW of dual-fuel gas turbines are being repositioned to Uruguay from a previously-announced 100 MW award in Mexico due to permitting delays on that project.
In addition, APR Energy has signed three contract extensions in Asia, Africa and the Latin America/Caribbean region totaling 160 MW. This includes the continuation of 70 MW of gas turbines in Japan, where APR Energy has been providing power since the tragic Tohoku-Chihou-Taiheiyo-Oki earthquake and associated tsunami in March 2011 that severely damaged Japan’s energy grid.
