Armor Battery Films, the battery components manufacturer and subsidiary of Armor Group, has opened its manufacturing site for battery technologies including carbon-coated current collectors in France after 20 months of construction.
The firm said it has an annual capacity of 150 million square metres, equivalent to 40GWh, and the site can produce the equivalent of 800,000 EV batteries with plans to scale up to 100GWh.
It supports industrialisation and flexible product design, including inline or intermittent coating and adjustable widths.
The facility includes a dedicated 500m2 R&D centre with three labs (formulation, electrochemistry, physiochemistry), including a dry room, enabling coin and pouch cells testing of the firm’s coated current collectors.
Armor Battery said that many products are already validated for LFP, NMC, sodium-ion, lithium-sulfur, and dry process applications.
By opening a facility in France, the firm said it has positioned itself to reduce time-to-market and increase sales across the EU and North America regions.

We’re now able to create more advanced and customized current collectors that match the fast-emerging demands of the battery industry, in many different new areas for the new battery generations. Thanks to this new facility, we’ll soon unveil a new current collector specifically designed for LFP technologies, tailored to meet the demands of the electric vehicle market”
