Austrian battery diagnostics specialist Aviloo has launched a battery warranty product for used electric vehicles, combining independent battery health assessments with insurance-backed financial protection.
The new Aviloo Battery Warranty, launched initially in France and Sweden on 1 June, is designed to reduce uncertainty around battery condition in the used EV market.
The warranty is based on the company’s Aviloo FLASH Test, which assesses battery state of health (SoH) and generates an independent battery certificate. The new warranty product is issued separately from the certificate and provides financial compensation if battery performance falls below a calculated threshold during the warranty period.
“The Aviloo Battery Warranty raises the used electric vehicle market to a new level,” said Marcus Berger, chief executive officer of Aviloo.
“For the first time, we are providing the foundation for a warranty based solely on objective, independent measurement data. This builds trust and makes risks calculable.”
Aviloo Connect: a digital platform for dealers and fleet operators
The warranty forms part of Aviloo Connect, a new digital platform intended for vehicle dealers, fleet operators, sales platforms and wholesalers. The platform allows users to manage battery testing, certification and warranty issuance throughout the vehicle remarketing process.
According to the company, an individual SoH threshold is calculated for each vehicle using data from Aviloo’s battery diagnostics database. The warranty covers a one-year period and a mileage of up to 20,000km. Buyers must complete a FLASH Test during that period. If the battery’s measured state of health falls below the predetermined threshold, the customer receives €3,000 in compensation and reimbursement of the test cost.
Aviloo said the warranty calculations are based on data gathered from what it describes as the world’s largest battery diagnostics database.
The company believes the new offering addresses a major barrier to confidence in the used EV sector, where concerns about battery degradation and replacement costs can affect residual values and purchasing decisions.
“With the Battery Warranty, we are setting a new industry standard”, said Berger.
“It provides orientation for all market participants, strengthens the decision in favor of electric mobility, and ensures that used EVs are perceived not as a risk, but as a sustainable and trustworthy option for the future.”
The launch comes as independent battery health certification is becoming increasingly important in the used electric vehicle market, where battery condition is a key determinant of vehicle value and remaining service life. By linking diagnostic results to an insurance-backed warranty, Aviloo is hoping to provide greater transparency for buyers and sellers while supporting the growth of Europe’s used EV market.
