ARTS Energy has become the 38th company to license global chemical company BASF’s nickel metal-hydride (NiMH) patents and technology.
The French battery manufacturer will now manufacture and sell off batteries for energy storage applications using BASF’s technology.
BASF has invented, developed and become a worldwide licensor of NiMH battery technology through the OvonicTM battery materials business it bought in 2012.
Ovonic conducts research on advanced NiMH anode and cathode materials for consumer, stationary and vehicle applications.
Through Ovonic, BASF has established NiMH licensing agreements and other strategic alliances with companies including Samsung, Toshiba Battery and GS Yuasa.
