About:Energy has unveiled The Voltt, a new cloud-based platform designed to revolutionise battery cell selection for high-performance electric vehicles.
Built on the company’s validated cell model library, The Voltt allows engineers to virtually test and compare battery cells under real-world conditions – without the need for complex software integration.
The platform streamlines one of the most critical decisions in battery development, enabling teams to identify optimal cells before purchase or prototyping. By reducing the time, cost and risk of cell selection, The Voltt can accelerate development timelines by up to six months.
“The Voltt is about transforming the economics of battery programmes for decision-makers,” said Dr Gavin White, co-founder and CEO of About:Energy. “In aviation, for example, every kilogram of battery weight affects range, safety and cost. By giving leaders the evidence to choose the right cell at the outset, we’re empowering them to make decisions that unlock performance and commercial advantage without costly trial and error.”
The Voltt draws on data from thousands of batteries and centuries of equivalent testing at About:Energy’s London lab. It supports over 30 high-performance battery cell models across sectors including drones, aviation, space and motorsports, with partners such as Molicel, Amprius, Enpower-Greentech and Inobat.
Validated in the field through collaboration with Quantum Systems’ EFT drone division, The Voltt is now publicly available with a 14-day free trial.
