BCI convention and Power Mart Expo is the latest in a series of conferences to be cancelled or postponed due to the coronavirus.
Battery Council International’s is arguably the most high profile of the events forced to cancel after careful review, dialogue with key stakeholders, and evaluation.
The decision to halt the April 26-28 event in Nevada, US, was taken because of the public health situation surrounded the Covid-19 pandemic.
A BCI spokesman said: “This is not a decision that was made lightly. BCI recognises how important the convention is to our members, suppliers and attendees.
“But the health and safety of our attendees is our utmost concern. Numerous factors forced us to conclude that it is impracticable to safely hold the event as scheduled.
“Those factors include the continued spread of COVID-19 around the world and in Nevada, the World Health Organization’s declaration of COVID-19 as a pandemic, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s recommendations to cancel gatherings of over 250 persons in communities with local transmissions, and the continued expansion of corporate and government issued travel restrictions.”
Attendees that have already registered for the event, will be emailed with additional communications regarding next steps. Anyone who has booked hotel room reservations for the convention is advised to contact the hotel immediately to inform them of your changed travel plans.
The next BCI Convention + Power Mart Expo will be held between April 25-27, 2021 in Naples, Florida.
