Bergen Engines AS, the Norwegian engine manufacturer, has become part of the Tognum Group, a German supplier of engines and distributed power generation systems.
The move follows the acquisition of Tognum AG by Engine Holding GmbH, the joint venture of Rolls-Royce and Daimler AG, in 2011. Bergen Engines is a former subsidiary of Rolls-Royce and this merger shows the group’s direction towards emerging engine markets.
The acquisition extends Tognum’s portfolio to include medium-speed diesel and gas engines up to 10MW as well as system solutions to its existing engine range.
