Bluetti has officially launched the Pioneer Na, the world’s first portable power station to feature sodium-ion battery technology – earning a TIME Best Inventions of 2025 Special Mention in the ‘Outdoors’ category.
Designed for safe, reliable operation in extreme cold, the Pioneer Na marks a major step forward in alternative battery chemistries.
Unlike conventional lithium-ion systems, the Pioneer Na charges at temperatures as low as -15°C and discharges down to -25°C, making it a dependable solution for winter storm resilience and off-grid cold-weather use. Its sodium-ion cells offer superior thermal stability, reducing fire risk and enhancing safety for everyday applications.
Delivering 900Wh of capacity and a 1,500W output (2,250W peak) via 11 outlets, the Pioneer Na powers everything from mobile devices to kitchen appliances. It supports rapid 0–80% charging in just 35 minutes and boasts a 10-year lifespan with minimal standby loss. According to the company, sodium-ion chemistry also offers a more sustainable alternative to lithium and cobalt, reducing environmental impact.
To demonstrate its durability, the Pioneer Na will undergo testing during an upcoming Antarctic expedition.
Also recognised in TIME’s ‘Green Energy’ category, Bluetti’s Apex 300 power station offers modular scalability and smart design for home, RV and off-grid use. It features a record-low 20W AC idle draw, a long-lasting LiFePO₄ battery with up to 17 years of service life, and a one-touch toggle for 120V/240V output.
