Braille Battery, the lithium battery maker and subsidiary of Braille Energy Systems, is to acquire the distribution rights for the drag-racing battery line from Tony Christian Racing (TCR), effective October 1, 2025.
The firm said it marks a new chapter in its involvement in motorsports as TCR, which was founded by Pro Street icon Tony Christian, has been the master distributor of Braille’s 16-volt lithium batteries since 2009.
These batteries have been used to power race cars across PDRA Pro Nitrous, NHRA Pro Mod, and other elite racing divisions.
Braille Battery said it is stepping in to streamline operations and expand its reach across racing circuits worldwide, after it was led by Tony Christian’s daughter Heather Christian-Kircher when he passed in 2022.
“We’re honoured to carry forward the legacy Tony Christian helped build,” said Lindsay Weatherdon, president/CEO, Braille Energy Systems. “His pioneering work in lithium battery technology for drag racing changed the game, and we’re committed to pushing that innovation even further.”
The firm said there will be uninterrupted service to racers and dealers during the transition, with Braille providing support infrastructure and its product offerings.
Heather Christian-Kircher will remain involved in an advisory capacity to ensure a smooth handover through to the end of the year, as well as engagement with the racing community.
Braille’s B168L battery, which has the specifications for drag-racing, will remain a flagship product in the lineup.
It has a recharge time of 10-15 minutes, and over 2300 cranking amps, with a lightweight design.
The firm said that integrating the distribution capabilities from TCR will streamline its battery business with a steady cash flow so that management can focus on the commercialisation strategy for its Electrafy business.
