Breathe Battery Technologies has unveiled a refreshed leadership structure as it enters its next phase of growth.
Co-founder and chief technology officer Dr Yan Zhao will step into the role of chief executive officer, while fellow co-founder and current CEO Dr Ian Campbell transitions to chief product officer, focusing on product strategy and customer experience. The company has also welcomed Chris Link as vice president of revenue, and Tina Berthelsen as head of marketing.
“This is an incredibly exciting moment for Breathe,” said Dr Zhao. “We’re no longer just a technology company with a great adaptive charging product, we’re building a battery design automation business that will fundamentally change how the world thinks about battery performance.”
The company’s latest leadership changes follow a period of rapid growth, marked by a landmark partnership with Volvo Cars to integrate its Breathe Charge platform into the automaker’s next generation of EVs. In March 2024, the company expanded into new offices in Oval and doubled its laboratory capacity, cementing its position as London’s largest battery lab, while September saw a move into consumer electronics through a collaboration with Bang & Olufsen, whose new Beo Grace earbuds feature Breathe’s adaptive charging technology.
