Formerly known as Call2Recycle, the organisation has adopted the new name The Battery Network as it broadens its nationwide system for keeping critical materials in circulation and supporting safer, more sustainable battery recycling at scale.
Marking three decades as one of North America’s most established battery recycling programmes, the rebrand reflects a shift from a traditional collection service to a connected network designed to support a circular energy economy. The updated identity highlights its aim to link every stage of the battery lifecycle, from safe collection and efficient logistics to the recovery of valuable materials essential to national energy resilience.
“For decades, we’ve made safe, responsible battery recycling simple for everyone,” said Leo Raudys, CEO of The Battery Network. “Today, our role goes far beyond collection. We’re helping build the infrastructure for a circular energy future. By keeping critical materials in circulation, we’re reducing fire risks, strengthening America’s energy independence and protecting people and the planet. That’s the power of a connected network and it’s what drives everything we do.”
Growing demand for batteries in electric vehicles, e‑bikes and consumer electronics has intensified the need for large‑scale, reliable recycling systems. The Battery Network now manages millions of pounds of used batteries each year through more than 20,000 drop‑off points across the US, with 80% of the population living within 15 miles of a site.
The organisation also supports manufacturers and retailers as they navigate expanding state‑level regulation, helping them meet Extended Producer Responsibility requirements while ensuring safe transport and recovery of materials such as lithium, cobalt and nickel.
The rebrand introduces a new visual identity that reflects its role as a connector across the battery ecosystem. The Battery Network plans further growth in e‑mobility programmes, EV‑related solutions and public education on safe handling and storage.
