It is commonly said that any system comprising a long string of capacitor cells will suffer lower reliability. Would splitting a long string into two or more shorter strings improve that?
To be as concrete as possible, let's compare two possible systems, one whole and one split. To make the comparison work, we also need to assume that all the cells in both systems have exactly the same voltage and temperature, that there can be no temperature gradients or voltage differences among any of them.
