With residential energy storage systems hitting the market from companies around the world, it was only a matter of time before a Chinese firm launched its own lithium-ion product.
This week the China-based GCL System Integration Technology’s 2.5KWh and 5.6KWh E-KwBe energy storage products hit the market.
The E-KwBe includes an advanced battery management system, and can be linked in a series of eight to achieve up to 125Wh/kg.
GCL is engaged in the research and development of proprietary technologies, and is supported by collaborative work with research organisations, including the Industrial Application Research Institute.
The E-KwBe series is due to be marketed by One STOP WAREHOUSE GCL’s solar photovoltaic (PV) product distributor in Australia.
The launch in Australia comes after the country’s Green party staked a claim for a 50% refundable tax credit for individuals buying an ESS, which would pave the way for up to 1.2 million Australian homes buying battery storage systems within five years.
Its been a busy week for residential ESSs, with Tesla’s much-vaunted 6.4kW/h lithium-ion residential ESS ‘Powerwall’ hitting US markets, having already been launched in Australia and South Africa.
Also in the US, California-based Verengo Solar and battery provider Swell Energy signed a home energy storage partnership deal.
Swell Energy offers lithium-ion batteries from South Korean LG Chem and German firm Sonnenbatterie in anything from four to 18kWh systems.
