Taiwanese e-scooter technology company Gogoro has partnered with Chinese motorcycle/scooter firms Dachangjiang (DCJ) and Yadea to launch its battery swapping system in Hangzhou, China.
The new Huan Huan battery-swapping brand is opening 45 stations, which it hopes to increase to 80 by the end of the year in additional Chinese cities in 2022.
The Gogoro Network is an open platform for battery swapping and smart mobility services with the batteries used to power lightweight EVs and electric scooters.
The swap stations recharge the batteries to prepare them for the next rider’s use, easily sliding in and out.
DCJ and Yadea are developing electric two wheelers that use Gogoro’s batteries, two of which are already launched for sale by Yadea, with DCJ following suit in 2022.
Gogoro’s CEO, Horace Luke said: “China, the world’s largest two-wheel market, with more than 300 million riders, is a key milestone for all cities.
“By working with Yadea and DCJ we are making safe and convenient electric mobility accessible to people in Hangzhou, China and in the future to hundreds of millions of urban riders in China and around the world.”
