Chinese energy storage company DoGo Power has launched two grid-forming battery energy storage system solutions for commercial and industrial and utility-scale applications. Both systems use lithium iron phosphate cells, with DoGo’s specifications listing 314Ah cells for the containerised configurations.
The systems combine grid-forming controls with artificial intelligence-based planning and operation tools. DoGo said they are available to order internationally.
Its commercial and industrial system is housed in a 10-foot container and integrates six 260kWh-plus battery cabinets with combining, grid-connected and islanded-operation equipment and an isolation transformer.
The unit can connect to photovoltaic generation, diesel generators, electric vehicle charging equipment and the grid. DoGo claims it can switch between grid-connected and islanded operation in no more than 20 milliseconds, allowing a single container to operate as a microgrid.
According to the company, the design reduces capital expenditure by US$0.012/Wh, occupies 35% less land and cuts project delivery time by five to seven days compared with a conventional multi-cabinet installation. It can also be combined with other DoGo product series and third-party inverters.

The utility-scale system has been designed for projects affected by transport restrictions or difficult terrain. Its container weighs less than 22 tonnes, which DoGo said increases the number of transport routes available and lowers land and sea freight costs.
The AC and DC systems are integrated and commissioned at the factory, eliminating internal cabling and reducing the need for cable trenches and assembly work on site.
A variable C-rate architecture allows developers to begin with a two-hour storage configuration and add DC expansion cabinets later. This enables the system’s power-to-energy ratio and discharge duration to be changed as project requirements develop.
DoGo’s three-layer grid-forming control architecture
Both products use the company’s three-layer grid-forming control architecture. The first layer provides millisecond-level functions including virtual inertia; the second handles secondary frequency and voltage regulation and black start; and the third forecasts and optimises dispatch.
DoGo said the architecture can support a 4:1 ratio of solar generation to storage and allow photovoltaic capacity to be doubled without upgrading the point of common coupling. It is designed to operate on weak grids with a short-circuit ratio above one.
The systems use the company’s 4S platform, which integrates the energy management, power management, power conversion and battery management systems.
DoGo also launched three AI-based software tools. EcoSizing models a full year of hourly operation and, the company claims, can simulate capacity requirements for a gigawatt-scale project in five minutes.
Its EcoPreco operating software is intended to control state-of-charge errors, electricity-price arbitrage, demand charges and battery thermal management. DoGo claims the software can increase revenue by 15% and deliver an additional state-of-health improvement of more than 3% in the tenth year of operation.
A natural-language software agent called Dr Go provides assistance with system sizing, dispatch, maintenance diagnostics and power trading.
Founder and CEO Robin Zhu said: “The energy storage industry has entered a high-quality development watershed after rapid scale expansion. Scenario adaptation, grid-forming and AI have become core competitiveness. Energy storage needs to shift from a ‘cost unit’ to a ‘value-creating unit’. DoGo Power focuses on grid-scale grid-forming energy storage, aiming to be a core technology leader for the new-type power system. We seek to cooperate with global partners to foster new industrial growth through technological innovation.”
DoGo said it operates three research and development centres, two simulation and testing centres and three manufacturing sites with an initial combined production capacity of 10GWh.
