Energy Plug Technologies has confirmed a pre-order for 20 units of its next-generation 261kWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) from an existing client.
The system is being co-developed with SEETEL New Energy, Quantum eMotion, and Malahat Battery Technologies, an Indigenous-owned company within the Malahat Nation. Initial deliveries are expected in early 2026, subject to UL certification for sale in the US and Canada.
Designed to operate in hybrid configurations with diesel generators, the 261kWh BESS offers enhanced efficiency, reliability and environmental performance for off-grid industrial applications. Key benefits of the BESS include:
- Quantum-secure architecture: Quantum eMotion’s patented quantum-randomness engine protects data and control signals with entropy-based encryption, ensuring resilience against cyber and post-quantum threats.
- Fuel efficiency and cost savings: Intelligent load management reduces generator runtime, cutting fuel use and operational costs.
- Lower emissions and noise: Hybrid operation supports ESG goals by reducing greenhouse gases and acoustic impact.
- Enhanced reliability: Instant battery response ensures uninterrupted power during variable load conditions.
- Operational flexibility: Suitable for construction, mining and defence sectors requiring mobility and silent operation.
- Extended equipment lifespan: Reduced generator cycling improves load balancing and asset longevity.
“This pre-order is a strong validation of market confidence in our upcoming 261kWh platform,” said Chris McGillivray, head of sales at Energy Plug Technologies. “By integrating advanced battery technology with conventional diesel systems, we’re delivering a solution that balances sustainability, performance and real-world dependability – a key requirement for industrial, commercial and defence clients across North America.”
