Utility giant E.ON has formed a partnership with fellow German firm SOLARWATT to launch yet another residential energy storage system into a rapidly growing market.
The energy storage system will be based on SOLARWATT’s lithium-ion MyReserve product, and will be rolled out in Germany within a few months.
The modular ESS will store electricity generated by a solar system and come with an energy app to inform the customer of their energy generatin and consumption.
“An increasing number of our customers wants to become more energy autonomous, ” said E.ON management board member Bernhard Reutersberg.
“We aim to become a leading provider of electricity storage systems in Germany and to continually expand our palette of intelligent solutions for our customers.”
Germany is seen as a key market for residential ESSs because of predictions which state nearly 100% of solar arrays may be sold with a storage device, albeit by E.ON themselves.
The country currently has more than 1.5 million existing solar arrays.
