Zinc-based energy storage systems Eos Energy Enterprises has announced an order to deliver at least 90MWh, and as much as 180MWh, of energy storage over the next 24 months.
The $20 million order from EnerSmart, a developer, owner and operator of utility scale energy storage projects, was announced on 4 January.
The projects are planned to be powered by Eos’s innovative Znyth® battery technology to deliver grid stability services and allow greater renewables utilisation in California.
The first project is due to be a $2 million, 9MWh system in El Cajon for CAISO (California’s independent grid operator) scheduled for the fourth quarter of this year.
The Eos Znyth® battery is designed to provide continuous power upon installation and is anticipated to have a useful life of 20 years, according to Eos.
