ep Group has signed a partnership agreement with GridBeyond to deliver an AI-powered optimisation programme for its expanding energy storage portfolio.
The collaboration builds on ep Group’s joint venture with Norwegian power systems and battery storage expert Pixii, announced earlier this year, which aims to meet rising demand for optimised distributed energy systems across the UK.
At the centre of this latest agreement is the optimisation of a 50MW battery energy storage system (BESS) in North Baddesley, alongside enrolment in the UK capacity market. The BESS will be supported by GridBeyond’s energy management system and AI-driven optimisation platform, enabling real-time optimisation, forecasting, design and trading. This approach opens access to new revenue streams while ensuring strategic charging and discharging that reflect market dynamics and extend battery life.
Leo Bedford, partner at ep Group, said, “Our partnership with GridBeyond advances our mission to accelerate the shift to distributed, decarbonised, and digitised energy systems. With this partnership, we’re combining GridBeyond’s leading optimisation capabilities with Pixii’s power conversion technology and ep Group’s delivery expertise to help clients transform energy infrastructure into a strategic, value-generating asset.”
