Eternity Technologies, the industrial battery maker for motive and network power, has bought a production facility from Enersys India in Vijayawada, India.
It plans on “significantly investing” into the facility by making it into a production hub for lead-acid batteries, with plans to increase efficiency and upgrade equipment and will make sure to adhere to the highest environmental standards, it said.
Eternity said this reinforces its commitment to India’s expanding economy, especially through e-commerce, infrastructure and global trade.
Its expansion into India is said to be powered by a demand for stationary batteries used in power stations and energy storage applications.
It said it also aligns with its broader goals of innovation, sustainability and circular economy practices across the battery industry.
There is a rising demand for these high-performance batteries as India’s electrification transition continues, especially for forklift trucks and handling equipment, it said.
Mark Stevenson, CEO of Eternity Technologies, said: “This acquisition is a key step in our global expansion strategy, strengthening our presence in India’s dynamic market. We are committed to providing cutting-edge battery solutions that support the country’s rapid shift towards electrification and sustainable energy.”
