Chinese battery maker Eve Energy announces the world’s first 400MWh energy storage project that uses 628Ah lithium-ion cells has been connected to the grid at the second phase of the Ruite New Energy Project in Lingshou, Hebei.
The Lingshou 200MW/400MWh standalone energy storage project, which was jointly developed by Eve Energy and the utility company State Grid Power Technology, was successfully energised earlier this month.
The firm said big battery cells exceeding 600Ah are now key to improving energy density, reducing lifecycle costs, and enhancing safety and reliability.
It features a minimalist design, low noise under or less than 65dB and is suitable for 4+ hour long duration storage.
The firm said the new BESS project will improve regional grid peak-shaving and frequency regulation and will support Hebei Province’s energy structure optimisation and carbon goals.
The deployment of the BESS project shows the firm’s capability to go from R&D to real-world application and represents the world’s first large-scale use of 628Ah cells in a 100MWh-level facility.
It claims that it delivered and connected 80 Mr.Giant ESSs and 40 integrated converter cabins within one week.
The new Mr.Giant ESS is being shipped globally, with the first batch of overseas shipments to Australia and Europe on September 10.
Eve Energy said it will collaborate with global partners to advance the green energy transition, with a technology-driven and manufacturing-led strategy.
