Graz at the forefront of battery innovation
The fifth edition of the leading event for the European R&I battery ecosystem will take place in the city of Graz, capital of the Austrian region of Styria, hosted by SFG, the Styrian Business Agency. Set on the 2-3 December at the Messe Graz Exhibition Center, the event expects around 500 delegates on site and 1000 more online.
The Battery Innovation Days is the event where industry leaders, researchers, and policymakers gather in one place to discuss battery technologies, growth strategies, and sustainability practices in Europe.
For two days, participants coming from all over Europe will meet more than 30 confirmed exhibitors and attend sessions on hot topics for the battery sector, such as artificial intelligence in the battery innovation sector, Europe’s mobility strategy, and the role of batteries in strengthening Europe’s defence capabilities.
“Electrification is not optional. It’s good for the planet, it’s good for people, and it’s good for the economy. – says Thomas Otuszewski, Founder and Programme Coordinator of the Battery Innovation Days – Instead of slowing down for short-term political or financial reasons, we must accelerate – looking not at next quarter’s balance sheet, but at the opportunities of the next decade.”
To promote the formation of European academic talents, BID introduced since its first edition the Battery Young Researcher Award, celebrating the academic discoveries of young PhD graduates. Further to a financial prize of 1000 EUR, the winner will have time to present his/her research on stage in a dedicated session.
The conference will alternate plenary and parallel sessions with interactive workshops organised by Battery 2030+, BEPA – Batteries European Partnership Association, and Bax company, focusing onsustainability and business demands, research communications, and key funding opportunities of battery innovation and investment.
A networking dinner at the historical Old University of Graz, and an exclusive site visit to AVL’s innovation center complete the programme. AVL, one of the world’s leading mobility technology companies for development, simulation and testing in the automotive industry and beyond, is providing an exclusive opportunity to tour its state-of-the-art battery innovation center, e-mobility benchmarking facility and testing facilities.
This year’s event is hosted by SFG, the Styrian Business Promotion Agency, which serves as the operational arm of Styria’s regional government, driving economic development and fostering innovation to boost regional business competitiveness.
Battery Innovation Days is co-organised by The European Batteries R&I Community, three initiatives collaborating in the battery sector. Battery 2030+, BEPA and the two IPCEI have the joint mission to drive European research and innovation in the field of batteries.
This year’s event is also possible thanks to the conference sponsors AVL and Andritz, as well as the cluster sponsors Battery City Munster, Battery Cluster Portugal, Circular Battery Cluster, Collabat, Cluster Hub ‘’Materials4Batteries’’, EU-Ingenious, Solid4b Cluster, The BMS Alliance and TwinBATT.
