The Dry Coating Forum is a specialist technical meeting organised by Fraunhofer IWS for researchers, materials suppliers, equipment companies, cell manufacturers and battery users working on solvent-free electrode production. Dry processing has the potential to reduce energy consumption, factory footprint and capital requirements by removing or shortening conventional slurry mixing, coating and drying stages.
The forum examines the practical obstacles as well as the advantages: powder formulation, binder behaviour, fibrillation, film formation, current-collector adhesion, calendering, scale-up, quality control and the transfer of laboratory methods into stable industrial processes. Presentations and posters allow competing dry-electrode approaches to be compared, while the relatively focused format encourages detailed discussion between research and manufacturing specialists. The 2026 meeting takes place at the Fraunhofer IWS campus in Dresden from 29 to 30 September and is conducted in English.
