The International Automotive Recycling Congress examines end-of-life vehicles, circular design and the recovery of materials from the automotive supply chain. Batteries are one element of a wider programme that includes dismantling, shredding, metals and plastics recovery, reuse, remanufacturing and producer responsibility, but electrification is making high-voltage battery handling and recycling increasingly central.
The congress brings together vehicle manufacturers, recyclers, dismantlers, equipment providers, materials traders, collection and take-back organisations, policymakers and researchers. It provides a useful setting for understanding how battery removal, diagnostics, second life, transport and treatment fit within whole-vehicle recycling operations. ICM expects up to 300 decision-makers and more than 20 exhibitors at the 2027 edition. The 26th congress is scheduled for 10-12 March in Hamburg, Germany.
