Faenix has been established as a new company focused on the commercialisation of energy storage systems and the activities supporting the integrated Teverola–Brindisi industrial platform.
Founded by FIB, part of the Seri Industrial Group, and Eni Industrial Evolution, the company is owned 70% by FIB and 30% by Eni Industrial Evolution. Its responsibilities will include commercial operations, supply chain management, engineering, research and development, and other activities supporting the development of the European energy storage value chain.
The Faenix name reflects the company’s focus on industrial renewal and transformation. Its strategy combines Seri Industrial’s experience in battery manufacturing with Eni’s industrial transformation capabilities and international presence, while also offering potential upstream synergies in critical battery raw materials. Drawing on the symbolism of the mythical Phoenix, the name represents rebirth, transformation and industrial growth.
Under the payoff “European Energy Storage”, Faenix will primarily target utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) using lithium iron phosphate (LFP) technology. The systems are intended to support large renewable energy projects, grid stability, commercial and industrial applications, and residential energy storage.
Faenix will commercialise products manufactured through the integrated Teverola–Brindisi industrial platform. Construction has recently started on the Eni Storage Systems facilities, including a BESS assembly line and a Gigafactory. Once fully operational, the two sites are planned to reach a combined annual production capacity of 16 GWh, equivalent to more than 10% of the European stationary BESS market.
The initiative is designed to strengthen a European industrial value chain covering battery cells, modules and complete battery systems, rather than focusing solely on system integration. It is also intended to support strategic autonomy, energy security, technological leadership and the cybersecurity of critical infrastructure.
Alongside its commercial role, Faenix will provide technical expertise, engineering capabilities, R&D innovation and end-to-end supply chain management for critical battery materials.
